The Meaning Behind the Name

The word communion means sharing and close fellowship. We believe in the healing power of relationship. To experience the presence of another person who is deeply attuned to us; who listens with care; who pays attention and bears witness to the details and nuances of our lives. To have all parts of us feel heard, seen and understood. To explore our lives with curiosity and wonder. We believe experiencing this on a consistent basis can not only be the vehicle to help us reach our goals, it can also help heal and transform our lives.

Emerging from this belief and foundation, we take a collaborative approach to therapy. We acknowledge each of us is limited in our perspective and abilities. We are imperfect human beings. Collaboration allows us to share our unique perspectives and strengths with each other as clinicians and healthcare professionals to benefit our clients. Instead of working in isolation, we maintain and protect your confidentiality while we work as a team, within our practice and with other outside professionals, to brainstorm new and creative ways to help you heal and grow.

In addition to providing therapy services, we also partner with groups, companies, organizations and the community to help increase knowledge and awareness of mental health issues, and to equip and empower each individual to heal, make lasting changes, grow and thrive.

We find meaning and purpose engaging in consistent, healthy, yet imperfect relationship. We invite you to join us.

Our Approach

We believe each person is unique and the therapy process is sacred. We believe it is through a safe, trusting relationship that we can experience healing from a variety of issues and experience lasting change. We cultivate this space and invite you to engage with us in authenticity.

We listen with a sense of presence and a posture of curiosity to understand you on a deeper level. And at times, offer feedback in how we experience you in the moment. It is this here-and-now exchange we hope provides you insights into how other people such as a spouse, friend or co-worker experiences you. We also invite feedback from you to provide a unique experience of a safe, healthy, relational exploration and new way of relating outside our sessions that will help you meet your goals.

Our therapy is also experiential. We value talking and understanding the underlying issues, and also want you to meet your goals in a tangible, practical way outside of the office. To this end, we encourage practice in session of the skills we develop together.

Finally, we individualize a plan or road map designed specifically for your unique background, set of issues, and goals. It is important that our time together is intentional, purposeful and has clear direction.

We are honored you are considering us for your counseling, therapy and wellness needs. We welcome any questions you may have.
